What we do

We are a network designed to connect individual projects, researchers and practitioners utilising community engagement to tackle AMR and other One Health issues.  We aim to facilitate the sharing of best practice and challenges, collaborations to address key research gaps, skill sharing and showcasing of key outputs.  This support predominantly comes from the website and resource hub, however CE4AMR will be launching a series of collaborative projects to incorporate community engagement methods into international AMR action over the next two years.  The network is also co-producing best practice guidance on the use of community engagement methods for AMR, collating and making visible key case studies in this area, producing policy briefs lobbying for the recognition of community engagement methods, and organising events where members can connect, skill-share and trouble shoot on particular topics related to community engagement for AMR.

CE4AMR believes that if communities are fully informed and engaged with the concept of AMR then subsequent AMR behaviour change will be meaningful and sustainable, contributing substantially to global efforts to address AMR.

What are our key challenges: There are a growing number of researchers, practitioners and special interest groups utilising CE methodology for AMR and other One Health issues.  However, there is currently limited support to find connections, support, best practice guidance or resources in the field of CE.  We also need to overcome obstacles to evaluating community engagement, participatory and creative methodologies so that impacts can be recognised across disciplines (biology, medicine, social sciences and the arts).  Without being able to show these methods are working in a way that all disciplines can appreciate, it is difficult to cement their reputation as intrinsic methods to tackle AMR.  Finally we need to ensure the focus on AMR action takes a One Health approach; the CE4AMR network aims to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, fuelling cross-cutting research and addressing key knowledge gaps in AMR.
